Class Description

This Intro to Watercolor Workshop is the perfect way to get your feet wet in the world of watercolors. Beginning to paint with watercolor can sometimes be intimidating and frustrating. This three hour watercolor workshop consists of live demos and structured exercises that will introduce you to the basics of watercolor painting and help start you on your path of exploring this beautiful medium. In this workshop you will learn: - Techniques to produce a wide variety of colors with your specific palette - How to determine which of your paints are translucent or opaque and how to use them - How to mix your paints both on paper and in the palette - How to create a flat wash, graded wash, and mixed wash - Techniques such as layering, splattering and lifting. Supplies needed: This class will focus on learning techniques rather than on specific brands of watercolor materials. By understanding the properties of your existing materials, you will be able to recreate colors and effects more efficiently. The goal is to enhance your knowledge and enable you to approach future projects with confidence. Please bring: - Your watercolor set. Either tubes or pans and your mixing palette if you have one - The watercolor paper or sketchbook you currently have - The set of brushes you already have. *If you do not have any supplies please add a note to your registration form in the comments section. I will plan to have watercolor paint, brushes and paper to share.
